Tree Updates

Updated April 1, 2024

We are at the next stage of the tree project and need as many as possible to save SATURDAY, APRIL 20th as a workday. Looking at starting around 9:00am. Scott and Carla from L & H Nursery will have the trees delivered to them on the 18th of April. We plan to auger holes where the trees will go on Friday to make it as easy as possible to put the trees in the ground. Our hope is to have a team of three or four plant five or so trees. We will have landscaping fabric precut and wood chips on hand to cover the area around the trees once they are in the ground.

Please bring a shovel and gloves.

We are looking for as many plastic 5-gallon buckets as possible. We will be drilling a ½” hole in the bottom of the bucket and staking a bucket at each tree. This will make it easy for us to run around the course with a water tank, that Kraig Johnson owns, and water the trees.

Scott from L & H plans to be on hand to assist along with Greg from the state forestry to assist with any question that we may have. Both will be very helpful in assisting us in the process to correctly plant the trees and care for them. We have roughly 17 different types of trees in the mix.

Tim Masud, the owner of Featherlite, donated 20 redwood trees for the project. Those were planted yesterday, and we will be putting the chips and baskets around them shortly. There have been many contributors to the project with monetary gifts and memorials, this has been greatly appreciated. The money has been used to purchase the trees and holder for the water tank, so it is easily hooked to the tractor. Any additional donations will be put into a special account for the purchase of trees in the fall or next spring.

Bill Seeley has been very busy building a wall plaque with memorial leaves that can be added as donations come in. If you would like your donation to be a memorial, please let us know as Bill will be installing them as we go. As many of you know, Bill is very talented, and the plaque will be something that we can all be proud of.

Thank everyone again for the help on this project, either through donation or assistance with the tree removal. None of this could have happened without the great members of our club and everyone’s willingness to make the country club a place that we all are proud of.
